St Philips New Reuse Shop
St Philips Household Reuse and Recycling Centre gets a new and improved Reuse Shop
There’s exciting news for Bristol bargain hunters, sustainability champions, and anyone who loves giving pre-loved items a second life. A newly expanded Reuse Shop is now open at our St Philips Household Reuse and Recycling Centre.
Previously known as the ‘Little Reuse Shop’, the shop has been moved into a larger, more accessible location, making it easier than ever for residents to browse, donate, and discover quality second-hand treasures.
This is in addition to Bristol Waste’s other two Reuse Shops at Hartcliffe Way and Avonmouth recycling centres. The St Philips Reuse Shop is open to visitors who come on foot, by bicycle or by car.
More space, more choice, more reuse
The original shop proved that Bristol residents are keen to shop sustainably and buy* affordable second-hand goods.
Now, with significantly more space, the shop offers an even wider range of items while saving even more reusable products from going to waste.
Shoppers will find a vast range of furniture, homeware, bikes, toys, garden equipment, and DIY tools at the shop. With stock always changing, each visit, shoppers will find something different.
*Only card payments are accepted at the St Philips Reuse Shop.
More ways to donate
With access from the street, visitors can now donate clean and usable items straight to the shop during opening hours.
Those visiting the recycling centre can drop off donated items directly at the shop or at the out-of-hours donation point next to the Reuse Shop.
If donating by car, visitors can park at on-street parking locations nearby and bring items to the shop or access the shop via the recycling centre (if they’ve booked a slot on the Bristol City Council website).
Easier to visit than ever before
One of the biggest improvements is accessibility.
For the first time, visitors can access the Reuse Shop on foot or by bicycle through a new gate connecting directly to the roadside pavement on Folly Lane. This means you no longer need to book a slot at the recycling centre if you only want to visit the shop.
Located close to Temple Meads railway station, The Dings, Old Market, Lawrence Hill and Barton Hill, and connected to local walking and cycling routes, the shop is now a convenient stop for even more people living and working nearby.
Helping Bristol waste nothing
Every item sold through our Reuse Shops helps reduce waste and keeps useful products in circulation for longer.
Across the Bristol Waste Reuse Shops, so far, more than 500,000 items have already been saved from disposal and given a second life.
As one of Bristol’s busiest recycling centres, St Philips has an important role to play in helping even more items stay out of the waste stream and find new homes.
Volunteering and Community support
The larger shop creates new volunteering opportunities and supports local voluntary, community and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations through donations of reusable items.
If you’re interested in volunteering at the Reuse Shop, you can submit your expression of interest here.
Local community projects and VCSEs can request donation support from the Reuse Shop at St Philips by talking with a team member at the shop or emailing reuse@bristolwastecompany.co.uk.
