Coffee pod recycling is now available in Bristol

Bristolians! You can now recycle coffee pods right here in Bristol.
Don’t let those precious resources go to waste. Reduce the environmental impact of your morning brew on your next visit to the recycling centre.
Podback, the UK’s coffee pod recycling scheme, has installed drop-off points at all three of Bristol’s Household Reuse and Recycling Centres. So now it’s easier to recycle your used aluminium and plastic coffee pods for free! This will save valuable resources from going to waste and will help boost the city’s recycling efforts.
This partnership between Podback and Bristol Waste Company provides convenient drop-off points for residents to deposit their used coffee pods in the three recycling centres, located across the city at St Philip’s, Hartcliffe Way and Avonmouth. The introduction of dedicated Podback drop-off containers at the recycling centres offers a more accessible solution for a wider range of residents.
Podback accepts over 80% of all aluminium and plastic pod brands sold in the UK, this includes coffee, tea, milk and hot chocolate pods. A full list of participating brands and further information is on the Podback website: https://www.podback.org/recycle-checker
How does Podback coffee pod recycling work in Bristol?
Step 1:
Don’t bin your used pods! Store them at home until you’re ready to take them to your local recycling centre to be recycled – for free.
Top tip: store used aluminium and plastic pods separately, this will help save time sorting when you get to the recycling centre.
Step 2:
Book your recycling centre visit. You can book your visit up to two weeks in advance and if you’re visiting the recycling centre by bike, or on foot (Hartcliffe Way site only) there is no need to book!
Step 3:
Put your used coffee pods in the Podback containers at the recycling centre (no bags, boxes or other packaging please).
Aluminium and plastic pods need to go in separate containers, these will be clearly signposted. If you need help, ask one of the staff at the site.
Step 4:
You sit back and enjoy another brew. Meanwhile, your used coffee pods are sent to parts of the UK to be recycled.
Aluminium pods are recycled in Cheshire and plastic pods are recycled in East Yorkshire.
You can find out more about the recycling journey of your used coffee pods on the Podback website.
