Bristol Waste donates £2,680 for Jessie May Trust
Profits from Reuse Shops go to local charity
Thanks to Bristol residents’ commitment to reuse and the hard work of our reuse teams, we’ve been able to donate £2,680 to the local charity Jessie May Trust.
This year, the profits from the three Bristol Waste Reuse Shops were donated to more than one charity. Long-standing charity partner St Peter’s Hospice received a £10,000 donation, and the Bristol Waste team chose to donate £2,680 to Jessie May Trust.
Bristol Waste employees were given the opportunity to vote for another charity that makes a difference in Bristol, and although it was a close decision between three local charities, Jessie May Trust was the decided winner.
Jak Boydon, Reuse Growth Manager for Bristol Waste Company, said: “It’s a real pleasure to support a charity like Jessie May. Our Reuse Shops focus on getting the maximum life out of good items, and knowing that this work also supports children and families across Bristol is incredibly rewarding. This donation reflects the hard work of our teams and the fantastic support from residents who choose to reuse.”
Jessie May Trust
Jessie May Trust is a Bristol‑based children’s hospice‑at‑home charity that provides specialist nursing, palliative care, and emotional support to children with life‑limiting or life‑threatening conditions. Their team of dedicated nurses delivers care directly in the family home, helping children stay in familiar surroundings while offering parents vital respite and ongoing support. The charity also provides end‑of‑life care, bereavement support, and family events that create meaningful memories during extremely challenging times.
“We’re incredibly grateful to everyone at Bristol Waste Company for choosing to support Jessie May through their Reuse Shop profits. Their generous donation will help us continue providing specialist nursing care and support to children with life-limiting conditions and their families in their own homes. Thank you, Bristol Waste Company, for making such a meaningful difference.”

Bristol Waste’s Reuse Shops
Our Reuse Shops offer Bristol residents the chance to donate usable items, rather than throwing them away. The items are checked and resold at affordable prices through our Reuse Shops at the three Household Reuse and Recycling Centres in Bristol.
Since opening our first Reuse Shop in 2020, and two more in 2022, the network has grown rapidly. We’ve now diverted over 400,000 reusable items from waste and raised more than £50,000 for local charities, a huge increase from the early days when we were handling only a few hundred items a month. Today, we’re seeing around 14,000 items come through each month, showing just how strongly Bristol has embraced reuse.
The Reuse Shops in Avonmouth and on Hartcliffe Way are open to anyone; you don’t have to book or even be a Bristol resident to shop there.
