Mayor Marvin Rees helps with Bristol’s recycling

Having just been granted a ten year contract by Bristol City Council, Bristol Waste recycling crews were delighted to have a visitor last week

Mayor Marvin Rees went out with one of the teams to see first-hand the challenges of collecting the city’s recycling.

There has been a lot of recent press coverage about the declining quality of recycling across England. It has been revealed that the percentage of recycling that is being rejected is rising – this is mostly due to contamination. What we mean by contamination is that materials are not being put in the right recycling boxes and are getting mixed up. An example would be a load of glass having some unwanted plastic in it.

Please help us to keep up Bristol’s recycling rates by separating things and putting them in the right box.
